MALAWI’S WEATHER FOR THE PAST TWO DAYS

It has been warm and mainly sunny with very cold temperatures during night and early mornings. For Instance on 1st July 2008 Malingunde Dam reported 3°C while Ngabu in the Shire valley reported 13°C

SOUTHERN AFRICA REGIONAL WEATHER ANALYSIS

A high pressure area over RSA is expected to maintain a ridge into Malawi thereby inducing southeasterly airflow into the eastern part of the sub-region throughout the forecast period.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR MALAWI

Expect warm and partly sunny conditions during the first two days becoming mainly sunny thereafter. Very cold temperatures expected at night and during early mornings through out the forecast period.

SHIRE VALLEY:

(Areas along Shire river, Lakes Chilwa and Chiuta Valleys)

Warm and partly sunny afternoons during the first two days and sunny thereafter. Cold nights and mornings expected through out the forecast period.

Highest temperature29°C. Lowest temperatures 11°C.                    
SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS:

(Shire highlands, Kirk Range up to Dedza)

 

Warm and partly sunny during the afternoon. Very cold conditions at night and in the mornings. 

 Highest temperatures 23°C. Lowest temperatures 06°C. 
CENTRAL AREAS:

(Lilongwe, Mchinji, Dowa, Ntchisi, Kasungu and part of Mzimba District)

Warm and partly sunny afternoon on Wednesday and mainly sunny thereafter. Localized very cold temperatures at night and during the mornings.  

Highest temperatures 22°C, Lowest temperatures 04°C.

LAKESHORE AREAS:

(Areas along Lake Malawi)

 

Warm to hot and partly sunny conditions during the afternoons. Cool at night and during the mornings.

Highest temperatures 28°C, Lowest temperatures 12 °C.
NORTHERN AREAS:

(All areas north of Mzimba)

Warm with sunny intervals in the afternoon. Very cold temperatures at night and during early mornings.

Highest temperatures 22°C. Lowest temperatures 03°C.
WINDS IN MOST AREAS:

Light  southeasterly.
